Im Hari (b. 1994)
Im Hari develops painterly narratives centered around the imaginary being "털난빵" (Furry Bread), grounded in sensation and emotion. This endearing yet uncanny figure emerges as a symbolic crystallization of the intimate feelings the artist experienced through pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood. Rather than pointing to specific personas or linear narratives, her work visualizes the essential, abstract sensation we call "love."
The "털난빵" within her paintings suggests a fluid worldview that suspends judgment and embraces moments as they are. This mirrors the way infants perceive the world, evoking the peace and liberation that arise from such radical acceptance. Im Hari resists didactic exposition, instead employing soft, nuanced lines, contrasting textures, and liberated brushwork to directly stimulate the viewer's sensory experience through purely painterly means.
